Fondly recalled as a familiar sports figure from his high school days, Best reminisces on his roots with warmth, describing Conway as a “homey city” brimming with a fervent love for sports.

While Best thrived on the sports field, he also exuded a quiet and introspective demeanor off the turf. Reflecting on his teenage years, he remarks on his innate independence, always charting his own course regardless of societal norms.

“Even if people were doing X, if I wanted to do Y, I was going to do Y,” he adds.

Following his graduation from Conway, Best ventured to Clemson University, where he navigated a different arena, one of academic rigor and intellectual curiosity. Despite the university’s renown for producing standout athletes, Best’s focus veered towards pharmaceuticals, a field that aligned with his inherent passion for math and science.

“My entire academic journey was really awesome,” Best says.

“Anatomy and Physiology was one of the coolest classes that I took, in part because the professor who teaches that course is well renowned.”

Immersed in Clemson’s stimulating academic environment, Best’s fervor for STEM flourished, propelling him to complete his undergraduate studies in an accelerated three years. Fueled by his ambition to become a pharmacist, he subsequently embarked on a journey to Charleston, enrolling at the esteemed Medical University of South Carolina.

After Graduating from MUSC, he completed a transformative year of Residency in Utah, honing his skills in an ambulatory care. Best then returned to his beloved Charleston to culminate his training. While he could have transitioned into the workforce sooner, Best opted for further education to refine his pharmaceutical expertise and carve a niche in patient-centric care.

For Best, the allure of a bustling pharmacy chain paled in comparison to the prospect of serving patients at the frontline of healthcare. Driven by a profound sense of altruism, he aspires to manage patients’ medications with diligence and empathy, fostering wellness and vitality in their lives.

Emphasizing the paramount importance of compassion and service, Best underscores the intrinsic value of aiding others during their times of need. For him, the true measure of success lies not in financial gain but in the ability to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives.

“The most important thing in life is being a helper and bringing value to other people in your own unique way,” the Clemson alum says.

“What I really want to do is work in a doctor’s office because it allows the opportunity to manage patients’ medication at the frontline,” Best says, emphasizing his commitment to hands-on patient care.

“Again, one of the most important things in life is being a net positive and bringing value to other people in your own special way,” the Clemson alum asserts, highlighting his unwavering dedication to serving others.

While financial considerations are important, Best underscores the intrinsic satisfaction derived from helping patients navigate their prescriptions and improve their quality of life.

“I like being accessible, and being in a doctor’s office allows me to answer questions that people have,” Best adds, underscoring his joy in providing direct support to patients.

He emphasizes that no amount of monetary compensation could supersede his desire to serve patients to the best of his ability.
